A 60-day journey through the Land Down Under was terminated following the fatal incident of an elderly lady who was stranded by the vessel on a distant tropical isle.

The elderly woman had been trekking on Lizard Island with fellow passengers from the vessel, but separated from the group for a break. The vessel departed without her and went back later that day after the personnel discovered the passenger was unaccounted for.

A major search operation discovered her person the following day.

Investigative bodies are looking into the incident, alongside police and the official investigator.

The CEO of the shipping company stated that guests and crew on the Coral Adventurer were told that the rest of the cruise had been called off due to the "unfortunate death and prior engine troubles".

Through an announcement, he added that travelers would be provided a full refund, and said the organization was working "to organize the travel back of the individuals via chartered flights".

Authorities also issued an latest announcement, and said they had "provided a order to the Commander" prohibiting any additional guests from boarding the ship.

The official said that they would visit the liner in Cairns upon its arrival.

Sequence of Incidents

The vessel initially left Cairns on October 24th, and was just two days into the expedition at the point of the elderly woman's demise. Lizard Island was the opening port on the itinerary.

Travelers on board - who generally pay large sums of money to take part in the cruise - were transported there for a daily excursion with the option of walking or underwater exploration.

The offspring of the victim said that her relatives was "surprised and distressed that the ship left the island after an scheduled excursion without my parent".

Via her announcement, she characterized her parent as an "energetic 80-year-old" who was a member of a hiking club.

"According to scant facts we have been provided, it looks that there was a failure of care and common sense," she said.

She further stated that she wished the examination would be able to determine what "the company should have performed that might have preserved Mother's being".

"According to reports from the police that it was a very hot period, and she took sick on the uphill trek," she revealed.

"They requested her to go back, without accompaniment. Then the ship departed, apparently without doing a roll call.

Company Reaction

In a statement, the Chief Executive affirmed that the organization was "working closely with officials to support their inquiry".

He said that the organization was "very regretful that this has occurred" and had extended its full support to the loved ones.

The ship accommodates up to a hundred twenty travelers with forty-six crew, according to company details. It was specially constructed to access remote locations of Australia's coastline and is outfitted with "small boats" - small boats used to ferry individuals on day excursions.
