19 of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his first trophy for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid period, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the American major.

The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in especial - caused him dropping out of the top ten and finally parting ways with former coach his previous coach.

Now working with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set triumph over challenger Moutet.

It is Medvedev's first title following the Rome competition and initial on a hardcourt after spring of that year.

Success also means the Russian has secured twenty-one championships at 21 various events.

"It's the first time I'm at a event with my both daughters together, so to get a title is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his last six finals, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.

The player's counter-punching approach and regular outbursts on the playing surface had caused observers to doubt if his skill to compete at the highest level was over.

Yet the athlete has made changes in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and perform aggressively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

Medvedev came back from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, securing four of the final five points to gain the advantage.

The pair traded service breaks in the second set before the challenger, striving for his maiden tour championship, seized the initiative to create a decider.

The opponent rescued 4 initial opportunities in a close final set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Appropriately, the winner earned victory with a shot at the net, with his opponent failing to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
